December 22 , 2006: Christmas Comes Early
I've seen a cover mock-up for Life Over Easy and I love it! It's very simple, a tad feminine, but it completely suits the story. As soon as I get an OK from my editor, I'll post it and share the joy.
December 18 , 2006: Giving It Away: Part Dos
I've got a box of books and have set five aside to sign and give away. Just head over to the Contact page, fill out the contact form and...welll you know the rest. If you don't, I've put a little contest note to clue you in on the details. Good luck!
December 15 , 2006: What's Coming Up...
Lots in the works to promote UIA is on the horizon:
- Complete Woman Magazine is holding a book give away. Check out the magazine, on stands now, for more information on how to win a copy.
- Catalina Magazine will be featuring UIA for its online book club pick in January and is giving books away to members. I'll also be chatting with readers and answering their questions on the site.
- WOW! will be doing a book give-away and running an interview in January.
- The El Paso Times will be running a feature/interview in January.
- I'll be the weekly guest blogger on Literary Chicks dot com in February, and you guessed it, giving away copies of of UIA starting the last week of January.
December 13 , 2006: Official Title
Thanks to some last minute brainstorming we came up with a great title for my second novel (due out at the tail end of 2007), LIFE OVER EASY. What’s it about? Well, I’m glad you asked. Natalya Campos is a tightly wound caterer in San Francisco whose life revolves around fate, family and food. All of this is turned upside down when Natalya is dumped by her underachieving boyfriend and has to revaluate all parts of her life before she can move forward. As soon as I have some editor approved blurbs and, maybe the cover, I’ll post them on the Books page.
December 12 , 2006: Title News, Book Reviews and Writing Blues
My editor, Sulay at Kensington, is going through the title hell in New York. My second novel, initially titled Starting from Scratch, won't be going to press under that title and your guess is as good as mine as to what it'll end up being called. We put our heads together and came up with a few alternatives we hope will pass the muster. As soon as its official, I'll post it.
Underneath It All has made an appearance in Complete Woman Magazine so I hope to make a trip to my favorite newsstand and pick up a copy or two soon. I just finished an interview (my first!) for WOW! to be posted on their site in January. A few more are in the works along with book give-away's. I'll post links to all as soon as they're up.
I'm ready to admit it, after two less than productive days at my desk, I officially have writer's block. And, in hopes of not making it worse, I won't be forcing myself to write for the next few days. Instead I'll use the time to go Christmas shopping. Joy.

November 29 , 2006: Giving it Away
Kensington has made chapter one of Underneath It All available on its site. It's a quick read since I tend to write short chapters. So if you're having a snack at your desk and need something to read check it out. You can also access it via the Books page by clicking on the cover image. Enjoy!
November 29 , 2006: Guest Blogging
The fine people at Romancing the Blog have posted my most recent effort. Drop by, give it a read and leave a comment.
November 20 , 2006: Writing and More
I've been on a writing streak lately. My third novel/proposal, about a couple who fall in love but never meet, is with my agent and will soon be submitted. If its picked up, I'll be concentrating on finishing it sometime next year. I've also put some serious time into a saucy thriller/suspense idea I've been kicking around for a while. I don't plan to churn out books in this genre like blood sausage, so if this takes off, I want to pace myself and maybe release one every couple of years. My wonderful editor Sulay at Kensington pitched me a young adult idea and I bit. If she likes what I proposed, I may add YA author to my growing resume in 2008. Plus, my agent is gearing up to submit my more literary novel soon, so things are busy. In a good way.
UIA has been popping up in all sorts of the places. Walmart.com is carrying it. And it will be available for renting through booksfree.com and book-remarks.com featured it on their preview page. There is talk of a book club where I'll be posting on a message board and talking to readers. I'll post the details as soon as they're worked out.
November 08 , 2006: National Exposure
I'm happy to announce that there is now real press for Underneath It All on the Press page. Vibe Vixen magazine has featured UIA in its Holiday 2006. Click on the cover image to check out the PDF of the layout scan. Vixen also has a good feature story on birth control options.
November 08 , 2006: News SNAFU
I forgot to press enter a few day ago and all the updated news never made it live. Here are the last seven days in brief: My editor Sulay Hernandez at Kensington is hard at work on my second novel, Starting from Scratch. She sent me my very first real copy of UIA and it is currently spawning at a printing facility somewhere in the country. I'm considering having mine bronzed. I'm getting positive response from my latest essay posted on LatinoLA.com. Check it out and let me know what you think.
