January 31, 2007: Blog Squatting
The women over at LiteraryChicks.com have been kind enough to invite me to guest blog for the month of February. Many thanks to Eileen Rendahl for not making me feel like the geeky new kid in school when I asked if I could sit at their lunch table. I'll be posting on Thursdays (starting on the 1st and ending on the 22nd) as well as giving away five copies of Underneath It All on the site. Stop by for a read and leave a comments. Hopefully I won't suck!
January 29, 2007: New Book Cover
Posted the cover for Life Over Easy on my blog page and I couldn't be happier with it and the title. As soon as I get the final promo copy, I'll officially add it to the Books page.
January 29, 2007: More Signed Books
Caught Pierre at the Montclair Plaza Barns & Noble just as he was rearranging copies of Underneath It All and asked to sign all six they have in stock. We talked for a bit and he was super nice. Hoping to do a signing there when Life Over Easy comes out.
January 25, 2007: The Day After the Big Talk
I did it and according to those who can't help but tell me the truth, I didn't suck. It was a great opportunity and I'm thankful to Erica, a writer of children's lit as well as a kick-ass librarian, for all her help. I'll be posting more and pictures on the blog as soon as I download the photos. Other stuff is in the works--by stuff I mean possible manuscript sales and a book signing. As soon as the details are worked out, I'll post all the dirt. The good kind of dirt.
January 23, 2007: The Day Before the Big Talk
Tomorrow (1/24/07) I'll be giving a talk at the Robert L. Stevenson Library branch. If you're in the neighborhood at 6:30 stop by. It's free and open to the public. No books will be sold but I'll be happy to sign your Underneath It All if you bring in. Plus, I have postcards and cover flats (the actual cover of the book, but with no book inside) to sign and give away. I'll be talking about how I got published and answering questions on Underneath It All, writing and publishing. Many thanks to the Erica for all her time and effort in setting this up.
January 20, 2007: Signed Copies
On our way home from a family gathering we stopped by the Borders Express in the West Covina mall where I signed three copies of UIA. Its always a treat when I find my book on the shelves (front and center on the tables is better, but hey) since some places will carry and a the rest wont. I suppose I could save a lot of time by calling before hand and asking if they have it in stock, but then they'd know it was me who called when I walk up to the counter asking to sign copies. These are the things I think about.
January 19, 2007: Going but not Gone...
My wonderful editor Sulay Hernandez is leaving Kensington. She really championed Underneath It All and if it wasn't for her and her insomnia I don't know where I or the book would be. Like I told her on the phone when she called me with the news of her impending departure, "I wrote it but you ran with it." But as luck would have it, I'll be working with Kate Duffy, uber-editor, on Life Over Easy and I know Sulay has left me in good hands.
January 08, 2007: Out and About...
My first official newsletter went out this morning. (Sorry about not sending it out as a BCC. Next time, I promise.) I've been stalking bookstores in hopes they are carrying UIA and signing copies (don't worry, I ask for permission first). I'll be posting a blog entry about it, complete with dorky photos as soon as I find the connector thingie for the camera.
January 04, 2007: Picked a Winner...
Emails have been sent out to the five winners of a signed copy of Underneath It All. Who are they? Subscribe to my newsletter and find out.
January 03, 2007: Interview
Wow! Women on Writing's issue number five is a Spotlight on Readers and features my very first interview. Many thanks to Beryl for making it a virtually painless process.
January 02, 2007: Have four cups of coffee...
Coffee Time Romance reviewer Cherokee has given UIA four out of five cups, saying it has "delightful funny moments with dialogue that is laugh out funny. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down." And this despite it not being a romantic book in the least and that I don't even drink coffee! Thanks, CTR.
