February 28, 2007: That Was Fast...

It's already the end of February and I've yet to finish a few things I'd hoped to have done by now. I'm adapting my YA series into a TV pitch and its coming along with help from my writing partner Paula, but its not an easy task. I'm halfway through Patrick's book and hope to have it done soon so I can get his blurb to him. And, yes, I've cut down on the reading. It's time for me to focus though I'm in the middle of a great story in the New Yorker on origami. I promise, once I'm done with this it's not thing but work for me.

February 26, 2007: More Reading, Less Writing

I've received Patrick Sanchez's manuscript and am reading it. I'll save the blurb for Patrick, but suffice to say I'm really enjoying it. I've also plowed through several novels as well as kept up with all my periodical reading which has left limited time for writing. But I'm working on one project and waiting to hear from editors on a couple so the not writing part might change before I know it.

February 21, 2007: Here We Go Again...

Life Over Easy is on its way to the copy editor and I can look forward to getting a marked up copy soon. I never claimed to be an editor or even an English major so it's always slightly stomach churning to see just how bad my writing mechanics are. This is my second time around, so I know not to be too freaked out, take my time and go over each and every squiggle mark, no matter how much I'd rather look the other way.

Today is my last day as guest blogger over at LiteraryChicks. I had a great time and really sweated the first couple of entries. It's one thing to write for my own blog, but I had six very talented women to keep company with and I wanted to do my best. My heartfelt thanks to Eileen and Lani who did a lot of heavy lifting to make the whole thing so much easier for me.

February 16, 2007: More Coming Soon...

Daniel from ChimMaya gave me a call and said they've sold three of the five signed copies of UIA I left from last Sunday's signing during the gallery's del Amor opening reception. (As soon as I get my computer in order I'll post the photos I took on Sunday on my blog.) I'll be sending and signing more soon, so if you find yourself in the area and in need of something to read or a gift to give to the reader in your family, stop by. But be forewarned, you may also end up buying a purse, some jewelry or even a piece of art.

February 15, 2007: Happy Blurbing

I've been asked by Patrick Sanchez to blurb his next book (my first request!) Once Upon A Nervous Breakdown (July 2007), and look forward to reading the manuscript in the next few weeks. Patrick was one of the first writers to agree blurb UIA and I'm only too happy to return the favor.

February 13, 2007:  Interview and Mention

PR maven Louise has posted an interview with me over at Boom! her chock full of great info for authors blog. She asked me some questions on the whole SF Mayor scandal and how it related to my own novel. Daniel from ChimMaya sent along Galeria Mijares's newsletter that has a picture of him and myself from ChimMaya's del Amor opening reception on Sunday. You can find links to both on the Press page.

February 12, 2007:  I love Mondays

I had such a wonderful time at Gallery ChimMaya, 5283 E. Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, 90022. Owners Daniel and Steven are great people with great taste and a rocking store and gallery. It was a first for the both of us, my first official signing their first time hosting a signing, but I couldn't have asked for a better experience or place to connect with readers. Steven and Daniel made me feel welcome into their extended family of locals, artists and patrons. And that's the way they treat everyone. I'll be singing their and ChimMaya's praises in an extended blog entry with photos this week. If your ever in the neighborhood, stop by. You won't be sorry. (Especially if you love jewelry and purses.)

February 09, 2007:  Life Over Easy Stuff

I've finally given LOE the UIA treatment on the Books page (and it really is a books page now, not a one book books page). I've added the official cover copy, blurbs for it and made the jpeg a respectable size.

February 05, 2007:  The News

With San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom fessing up to sleeping with his appointment secretary and Underneath It All featuring a story line about a handsome, golden boy politician who is the mayor of San Francisco and sleeps with his press secretary, I've been getting a lot email from readers commenting on the coincidence.

February 05, 2007:  Later This week

My next blog this Thursday on LiteraryChicks will explore a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I'm putting the finishing touches on it tomorrow and hope my laptop doesn't die between now and then. My first, The Art of Late Blooming , is up now. If you have some time to kill, stop by for a quick read and leave a comment. On Sunday on February 11 from 2-6 I'll be signing books during Gallery ChimMaya's Valentine Collective Exhibition. If you're in the neighborhood, stop by, say hello and take a look at some truly unique art and jewelry.

February 01, 2007:  Blog Squatting

My first blog is up over at LiteraryChicks.com I'll be posting on Thursdays (starting on the 1st and ending on the 22nd) as well as giving away five copies of Underneath It All on the site. Stop by for a read and leave a comment.
